On Wednesday (23/10), Maulfi Syaiful Rizal, M.Pd., lecturer in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The topic of the guest lecture was the study of comparative literature which juxtaposes Indonesian literature with Malay literature. The activity was attended by dozens of participants consisting of UPM students and lecturers.
The guest lecture was held in order to discuss and exchange ideas so as to get to know more closely the literary studies in the Indonesia-Malaysia family.
“The lecture provided an initial view of what comparative literature is, including the genre, scope, purpose, nature, and examples of comparative literature taken from Indonesian and Malaysian literary works. Through the guest lecture, it is hoped that students at UPM will be interested in studying and reviewing not only Malaysian literature but also Indonesian literature, which in fact tends to be similar because it comes from the Malay family,” Maulfi said when asked about the content and purpose of the guest lecture at UPM (22/10).
After the guest lecture was over, a group of lecturers from the Department of Language Education FIB UB met with the dean and lecturers of UPM to discuss the continuation of the MoU between FBMK UPM and FIB UB.
