Diksasindo Student Wins 3rd Place in Play Writing for East Java Peksimida 2022

Elvin Nuril Firdaus, student of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Diksasindo) Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), successfully won 3rd place in Play Writing in the Regional Student Art Week (Peksimida) competition ) East Java (Jatim) 2022. The activity took place at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) on Tuesday (30/8/2022).

Peximida is a student-level competition that focuses on the arts at the regional level. There are various types of competitions that students from various universities can participate in. Each university sends a maximum of 1 male and 1 female delegate who has been screened through the selection process of each university.

In dealing with participants from various universities, Elvin revealed that the preparation process he did was quite short because it collided with the P4 activity he was undergoing in this 7th semester. He felt that he was not intense enough in practicing writing to prepare for the competition. However, because Elvin knew that this competition would be held in the near future, he decided to immediately contact his supervisor, Mrs. Jamila Wijayanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. From the results of guidance with Bu Jamila, Elvin received a lot of input and encouragement to continue practicing and improving his work. Although at first he was pessimistic because he did not have talent in the field of play writing, but thanks to the encouragement of his supervisor and several other lecturers as well as his hard work, he finally managed to get 3rd place in this prestigious event.

From Elvin’s experience in this competition, he is very happy with the results he has achieved, because writing plays is something he has just been involved in. In addition, Elvin also advised Diksasindo students to be more confident in participating in various competitions. “Don’t be afraid to try,” he said. “If you feel that you like it, then just do it, don’t be shy, who knows you will have many opportunities in that regard.” Elvin concluded.
